Lindsay Lohan’s Lifestyle for the Next 90 Days

Wild child Lindsay Lohan’s jail term has been reduced to 90 days, but it will be a very different lifestyle to the Hollywood jet-setting one to which she has become accustomed. She recently began her life in jail and it will be interesting to know what she goes through while she is there.

If this sounds too depressing, then you might be pleased to hear that even this 90 day sentence is likely to be further reduced. Due to the fact that jails are cramped and crowded, and the cost of housing an inmate is so high, minor offences such as DUI (Driving Under Influence) are looked upon lightly.

In addition to these factors, she is a female and might get time off for good behaviour. Also, this is a non-violent misdemeanour, so Linsday might be out sooner than we expect. Hopefully, in time for the premiere of “Machete”, which will take place next month. Ironically, she plays the role of a nun in this film.

With Other “Mean Girls”
However, until that happens, she will have to face the reality of her jail sentence. For one thing, Lohan is not now living in a swanky new, sprawling ultra-luxurious Hollywood mansion. Instead, she is housed in an ugly two-storey, 16-year-old Californian building known as the “Century Regional Detention Facility”. It is a women’s only institution, which houses over 2000 inmates. However, for her own safety, Lindsay Lohan will have her own quarters, which will be isolated from the others.

Gone in 90 Minutes
Interestingly enough, Lindsay Lohan is no stranger to the lock-up. She was in and out briefly in 2007. This was also for a DUI charge and the total duration of her time in jail was under 90 minutes. She was allowed to keep her regular clothes on last time, but now, she will have to trade in her designer wear for a standard jail jumpsuit, which is a hideous orange colour. Of course, no jewellery is allowed inside the jail.

Lindsay will probably feel comforted by the fact that other celeb girls have also gone through the same experience. For example, Paris Hilton was locked up for 23 days for reckless driving. She also had to cope with the basic toiletries that have been given to Lindsay, including soap, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a comb and little else.

She will be able to eat her meals alone in her cell and will be allowed to go outside for about an hour every day. Instead of her mobile phone, she will need to use a pay phone, and it goes without saying that her twittering will come to complete stop while she is in the slammer.

The surly but popular Simon Cowell is ready to be replaced and a veritable war has broken out. Strings are being pulled and favours are being called in so that one lucky celeb can usurp him on the panel of judges for the popular TV show “American Idol”.

The frontrunner is rock singer Chris Isaak, who has written songs like “Wicked Game”. In addition to that, he also has experience facing the camera, having appeared on TV shows like “Eastwick”, “Smallville”, “Cold Case” and “The Chris Isaak Show”.

Others in the running include the singer Harry Connick Jr. Those who have now fallen by the wayside include Bret Michaels and, surprisingly, billionaire Donald Trump!

Kevin Costner’s Oil-Free Waterworld

Kevin Costner has braved wide ridicule by appearing all over the media plugging his oil clean-up gadget, which he says will be very effective in clearing up the oil spill in Mexico. He has even appeared before Congress to make a case for his oil clean-up tools. It has been about 3 months since the Gulf of Mexico oil spill began. Finally, the hole is almost plugged but once that is done, the huge quantity of oil that has entered the water needs to be cleaned up.

If Costner has a solution, why isn’t he being taken seriously?
David Meikrantz works as a chemical engineer at the Idaho National Laboratory, and has full faith in Costner. He says the device can separate one liquid from another successfully. Furthermore, he believes it should work properly in the Gulf too. The devices have worked very well in tests performed by BP and 32 machines are ready to be deployed immediately.

These centrifuges were manufactured by a company that was founded by Kevin Costner himself, known as CINC Industries. It was founded in 1993 and millions of dollars have been pumped into it since then. Clearly, this is no fly-by-night operation or headline-grabbing stunt. The machines can separate oil and water because the two liquids have different densities.

Why haven’t these machines been used before?
Because small oil spills don’t require such machines. The oily water can be collected and sold at a port as is. Now though, Kevin’s machines are perfect for the large-scale oil spill in the Gulf, as it is impossible to collect such large volumes of water. They can be used to remove 99 percent of the oil from the water.

The longer we wait, the more the environmental damage keeps increasing, because the oil and water combination is turning into “mousse”. Oil companies won’t spend money on collecting this useless mousse and they will prefer to let it remain in the ocean where it will continue to cause immense damage to the ecosystem.

The good news is that BP has realised the gravity of the situation and has agreed to lease all of Costner’s centrifuges. They have already started using 10 of the machines and by August, all 32 will be deployed in the Gulf. They will extract whatever oil that they can and will then pump the relatively cleaner water back into the ocean.

Sandra Bullock and Lenny Kravitz against the oil spill Sandra Bullock, who won an Oscar in February for her role in “The Blind Side”, didn’t have time to savour this crowning glory. She went on to endure widely publicised marital problems. Perhaps to forget her trials and tribulations, the actress has now thrown herself into an environmental cause. She appears in a video alongside other, more or less well-known celebrities, including the charismatic musician Lenny Kravitz and the actor John Goodman. The video clips in question aim to urge Americans to sign a petition to raise funds to restore the coastline around the Gulf of Mexico, polluted by the oil spill.

Will Mel Gibson be able to maintain a fragment of his reputation after all that is being said about him at the moment? The hero of “Braveheart” recently broke up with his partner, the Russian musician Oksana Grigorieva.

Just as the couple seemed to be separating amicably, the plot thickened little by little. Oksana accused Mel of having beaten her! In a recording of the actor’s voice, broadcast on the internet, we can hear him expounding racist and misogynist remarks. In short, Mel’s popularity is in freefall.

We have just found out that Mister Gibson can count on the support of a star who has also experienced a fall from grace: none other than the singer Britney Spears! A way of returning the favour to those who supported her during her trials and tribulations in 2008. Just as Britney managed to make a comeback, will Mel in his turn ultimately achieve the same thing? The question is in the air…
